Patricia (Patty) A. Adzima, 51, Powers formerly of the Marquette and Gwinn area, died unexpectedly Oct. 11, 2010, at her home in Powers.

She was born in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of the late Emery and Marion (Borndoefer) Adzima. She is survived by her significant other, Kim Aerts; two sisters, Susan Heck and Janet Adzima; one brother, Michael Adzima; one nephew, Christopher Heck; and two nieces, Ashley and Alicia Adzima. Her parents preceded her in death.

Friends called at Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A funeral service was held there Oct. 14, with Fr. Emmett Norden officiating.

Elvina L. Behnke, 82, Arbor View Senior Care in Plymouth, WI, died unexpectedly Oct. 13, 2010, at St. Nicholas Hospital.

Elvina was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Menominee, a daughter of the late Evan and Edna (Johnson) Hultman. Elvina attended schools in the area graduating from Stephenson High School in 1946. On Aug. 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Earl C. Behnke in Wallace. He preceded her in death in 1993. Elvina had been employed with the Kohler Company. One of her favorite Christmas traditions was to bake cookies for the entire family. She also enjoyed family camping trips, ceramics and playing dominoes. Elvina was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Elvina is survived by two daughters, Sandra (David) Grulkowski, Sheboygan, WI and Karen K. Behnke, Sheboygan Falls, WI; two sons; Earl A. Behnke, Sheboygan Falls and Brian S. Behnke, Cleveland, WI; seven grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Phyllis) Hultman, Menominee and three sisters-in-law, Bernice Fischer, Manitowoc, WI, Lorraine Beoudoine, Marinette and Donna (Donald) Schwartz, Porterfield, WI. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Leona Gagnon.

A funeral service for Elvina was held Oct. 16, at the Novak-Ramm-ziegler Funeral Home, Sheboygan, with Pastor Jon Paquette of St. Nicholas Hospital Officiating. Bruce Christnagel PDF Print E-mail
Bruce J. Christnagel, died Oct. 14, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center.

Bruce was born in Detroit, MI, on May 12, 1942, to John and Phyllis (Bruce) Christnagel. His family moved to the U.P. during his early years and made their home in Menominee. He attended Catholic grade school and was a member of the Marinette Catholic Central High School, Class of 1960. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He then returned to Menominee. On Dec. 27, 1965, he married Regina Kuran. They settled in Marinette/ Menominee to raise their daughters. Family gatherings, Packer/Lion football Sundays, camping at Kleinke Park and the backyard fire pit with Bruce singing and playing the guitar were enjoyed. He was a police officer in Marinette and Menominee, worked for local manufacturing industries, healthcare facilities and received as associate's degree from the UW Center-Marinette. He enjoyed his work at the Madison VA Hospital.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Karen (Patrick) Mullen, Julie (Andy) Primeauand, and Sarah (Matt) Conway, seven grandchildren; sisters, Kathy (Joe) LaLonde, Kim and Darlene Christnagel, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Causton and Evelyn Kuran.

 Memorial service took place Oct. 20 at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home, Marinette, at 3 p.m. The family suggests donations to the Marinette Catholic Central Foundation or the Menominee High School Booster Club.

Linda M. Cramer, Wilson, died of cancer, Oct. 14, 2010, at her home in Wilson.

She was born April 27, 1954, in Dixon, TN, and was the daughter of Robert and Mary (Reeves) Gallandt. The family moved to Bay City, MI, when Linda was a young girl. She graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1972. Linda married William Cramer July 1, 1972, and they moved to the U.P. in 1975. She worked at McLeod's Restaurant for a short time, then Frigo Cheese for 10 years. For the last 18 years she had been employed as a senior cook at the Island Resort and Casino until she fell ill from cancer.

She is survived by her husband; son Jared (Amanda) Cramer, Wilson, two grandchildren; brother, Robert E. (Penny) Gallandt, Bay City; sister, Sandra (Thomas) Deloughary, Kawkawlin, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, William Jr.; daughter, Mary Anne Cramer; brother, Dennis Gallandt; sister Mary Anne Gallandt; parents, and step-mother, Doris Gallandt.

Visitation was at Anderson Funeral Home, Escanaba. Funeral services were held Oct. 16 at the Anderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Judy Kincaid officiating. Online condolences can be sent to www.andersonfuneralhome.net

Lonnie RoeDell Leonhardt, 68, died Oct. 7, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 29, 1941, the son of John and Millie Leonhardt. He had many caretakers during his life especially Holly Schlaud, her crew and family, his sister Elizabeth, members of the former Men-O-Mee, Powers Activity Center, and the social workers at Northpointe. His family is grateful for the guidance of Fr. Mike and Fr. Cory.

He is survived by sisters, Elizabeth (Walter) Mueller, Delores Nelson and Patricia Tanguay, nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral was held. Burial was in Birch Creek Cemetery. Anderson Kell Funeral Home, Menominee, assisted the family.

Janet (Mickey) (Ahearn) Payant, 76, Menominee, died Oct. 15, 2010, after an illness.

She was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Menominee, to Cornelius, Jr. and Margaret (Toddish) Ahearn. Mickey graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes in Marinette, and later attended Michigan State University where she studied nursing. On Sept. 11, 1954, she married Paul D. Payant of Marinette. She and Paul resided in Wisconsin, Arizona and upon Mickey's retirement from the Tempe Unified School District as a Health Aide, they moved back to Menominee. She was one of the founding members and was instrumental in the establishment of the first Animal Shelter in the area. She served on the Board of Directors and contributed with her grant-writing to the Menominee Animal Shelter.

She is survived by her husband of Menominee; children, Paula of Peshtigo, Stephen (Carol), Oconto, Patricia (Terry Roberts), Port St. Lucie, FL, Amy (Michael) Reuteman, West Bend, WI, and Ted of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Cornelius, III (Bud) (Marge), Dennis (Marie); sister, Ruth Metiever (Darrell, now deceased), nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Resurrection Catholic Church, Menominee, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials may be sent to the Menominee Animal Shelter, Menominee.

Joann M. Pearson, 72, Spalding, died Oct. 16, 2010, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers.

She was born March 24, 1938, to the late Henry and Ida (Gravelle) Hupy in Spalding. On Sept. 28, 1963, she married Warner Pearson. He preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Randy (Cindy) Pearson, Susan (Bill) Cronick and Tina Pearson; two brothers, Ken (Jeanne) Hupy and John (Mary) Hupy; three sisters, Mary Callahan, Betty (Jim) Lentscher and Theresa Babe, one granddaughter, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Joe Hupy. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. (CST) Oct. 20 at Allo Coolman Funeral Home, Spalding.

 A funeral service will follow visitation at 5 p.m. (CST) at the funeral home with Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Burial will take place in the Spalding Township Cemetery. Visit www.allofh.com to send online condolences to the family.
