Steven L. Ailport, 57 of Stephenson, MI died Sept. 28, 2010, at home.

Steve was born Aug. 9, 1953, in Daggett to Lillian (Chaney) and the late Louis Ailport. Upon his graduation from Stephenson High School in 1971, Steve joined the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. It is there that he met and married Waldi Meizher Nov. 30, 1973. Steve worked for Delaet Forestry for many years retiring due to poor health. He loved hunting and being in the woods. He also enjoyed sports and animals.

He is survived by his wife of Stephenson; mother Lillian of Stephenson; sister Susan (Daniel) Dwame, Johnson Creek, WI; aunts, uncles, friends and his dog, Rudy.

Visitation, Military Rites and Funeral Service were held at the Anderson Diehm Funeral Home Oct. 1. Burial was in Lost Lake Cemetery.

Frederick T. Allen, 72, Cedar River, formerly of Cicero and Burr Ridge, IL, died Sept. 17, 2010, the son of the late Harold and Frances (Strell) Allen.

He retired from Western Electric/A.T.& T. He was a member of St. Annes Parish in Escanaba. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was the husband of Phyllis F. (Lullo); father of Leslie Russo; brother of Robert (Chris) Allen and the late Jim and Rosalie Allen, and the late Adrianne Nestel; brother-in-law Chuck Nestel and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was held at Holy Spirit Catholic Community in Naperville, IL. Interment in Stephenson Township Cemetery.

Donn Edward Anderle, 67, Menominee, died Sept. 21, 2010.

He was born July 24, 1943, in Menominee, to the late Gerald and Alma (Stenzel) Anderle. He graduated from Menominee High School Class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Donn worked for the city of Menominee and most recently for Goodwill Industries.

He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Walters, Marinette, and Jacquelyn Woosley, Salt Lake City, UT; and twin brother, Dick Anderle, Watertown, WI.

Funeral services were held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home Oct. 5. Deacon Bonnie Turner of the Grace Episcopal Church officiated. Burial was in the military section of Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. A memorial fund has been established in Donn's name for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (N.A.M.I.), 708 Homestead Joint Road, Fence, WI 54120.

Josephine M. Doboy, 91, Stephenson, died Oct. 4, 2010, at Roubal Care and Rehab Center.

Josephine Zielonka was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Stephenson, to the late Walter and Constance (Ruminski) Zielonka. On Aug. 2, 1940, she married John M. Doboy, Sr. in Stephenson. He preceded her in death March 31, 1982. Josephine was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, reupholstering furniture, crafts, gardening and flowers. Spending time with her children and grandchildren is what she enjoyed most.

She is survived by one daughter, June Doboy, Germantown, WI; two sons, John, Jr. (Mary) and James (Phyllis) both of Stephenson, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one sister, Ann Herlehy, Downers Grove, IL. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be held Oct. 9 in the Memorial Room at Precious Blood Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Father Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will follow in Stephenson Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pearl G. Hendry, 87, Bark River, died at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Sept. 29, 2010.

She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Harris, daughter of Eli and Mary (Dellise) Pirlot, Sr. Pearl graduated from Harris High School in 1941. At the age of 19, Pearl moved to Detroit and was employed at general Motors as a bookkeeper until she returned to Harris in 1970. She was then employed at First National Bank in Escanaba as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1975. She married Walter Hendry in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1968. She was Presbyterian by faith.

She is survived by her partner, Arthur Carron; a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Eli Pirlot, Jr.; Matthew Pirlot, Clarence Pirlot, and Fred Pirlot, Jr.; six sisters, Mary Dahlin, Melina Marquette, Gladys Buckley, Apolina Nicholson, Lillian Vincent and Fern Parker.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the Harris Township Presbyterian Cemetery. The Crawford Funeral Homes assisted the family.

Ella Mae Lindstrom, 86, Daggett, died Oct. 2, 2010, at Roubal Care and Rehab Center.

Ella Mae Rabitoy was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Stephenson, to the late Edward and Emma (Mayotte) Rabitoy. On June 29, 1946, she married Deloyd Lindstrom at St. Fredericks Church in Daggett. Ella enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Her family was most important to her.

She is survived by her husband of Daggett; one daughter, Jean Lindstrom, Lehigh Acres, FL; one son, Daniel (Erika), Waukesha, two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Edith Foley, Stephenson, and Ruth Kamphaus, Sun City, AZ; two brothers, Bernard (Anita) Rabitoy, Sturdevant, WI, and Edmond Rabitoy, Mountain Home, ID. She was preceded in death by one sister, Stella Nelson.

Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, Oct. 6, after 4 p.m. until time of prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Oct. 7 at the funeral home from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Precious Blood Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Father Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will follow in Stephenson Township Cemetery.

Agnes Petonquet Meshigaud (Malinowski) Nem ki kwe (Thunder Woman) died Sept. 26, 2010.

She was born in Hannahville Feb. 14, 1933, to Caroline Petonquet and the late William Meshigaud. Agnes' father preceded her in death before she was born. The only father she knew was Archie Megenuph Sr., who raised her. Agnes was a caregiver to her three younger siblings when her mom went blind. Agnes was the last elder of her community to speak her Native language fluently and enjoyed talking about her past and her cultural beliefs.

She is survived by her husband and companion, Adam Malinowski, Hannahville, whom she married Aug. 17, 1965. Agnes was preceded in death by her brothers Elijah and Francis (Kodosh) Petonquet, Hubert, Raymond (Puttnosh) Meshigaud, Herman and George Megenuph and sisters, Daisy Meshigaud Pecore, Rose Meshigaud Pearson, Lilian Petonquet Migwaunabe, Alivina Megenuph Perez, Elsie Megenuph Maki. She is further survived by daughters, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral were held at the Hannahville Community Center Sept. 29. Burial was in the Hannahville Cemetery. The Crawford Funeral Homes assisted the family.

Rose Marie Miller, 78, Daggett, died Sept. 30, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center.

Rose Carrier was born April 7, 1932, in Daggett to the late Gilbert and Augustina (Plutchak) Carrier. Rose worked at Roubal Care and Rehab for many years as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, country music, her cats and kittens. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Earl) Crossman and Nancy (Greg) McBride; four sons, David (Linda), Robert, Richard and Frank; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchil dren; two brothers, Gilbert (Peggy) Carrier and Raymond Carrier and sister, Bernice Miller. Rose was preceded in death by one brother, Rudy Carrier.

Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home where funeral service was held Oct 3. Pastor Craig Weber officiated. Burial was in Stephenson Township Cemetery.

Clara P. Peterson, 86, Wallace died Sept. 30, 2010, at Roubal Care and Rehab, Stephenson.

Clara Philemone Haulotte was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Wallace to the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Wagner) Haulotte. Clara graduated from Stephenson High School in 1940. She married Stanley V. Peterson July 6, 1945, at Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace. He preceded her in death July 19, 1981. Clara enjoyed baking, reading and collecting recipes. With a large family, Clara enjoyed sewing and harvesting a large garden.

Clara is survived by one daughter, Kathy (Ron) Nelson, Menominee, six sons; Duane and Robert both of Wallace, Ronald (Tammy) of Elgin MN, Gordon, Magnolia, TX, Clyde (Debbie), Wallace and Les (Geri), Fort Collins, CO. 10 Grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mildred Haulotte, Stephenson.

Funeral Service was held Oct. 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Mission Covenant Church, Wallace. Pastor John Lindt officiated. Burial followed in the Mellen Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home assisted the family.

Carol J. Strazzinski, 60, Coleman, died Sept. 30, 2010, at Whispering Oaks Care Center, Peshtigo, following a brief illness.

The daughter of the late Edward and Caroline Fait was born May 27, 1950. She was a graduate of Lena High School and married Charles Strazzinski in October 1985. He preceded her in death in 2005. Carol worked for the former Country Gardens, Inc., of Coleman for 18 years. She was known as the karaoke queen of Coleman. She was a member of the choir of St. Anne Church, Coleman, and the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

She is survived by one brother, Ronald Fait, Coleman; a sister-in-law, Veronica Strazzinski; nephews, Donald, Sr., and Donald, Jr. Strazzinski all of Daggett.

Relatives and friends called at St. Anne Church, Coleman, where Mass of Christian Burial was held, Oct. 4, with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery, Daggett. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman, assisted the family.

Ellen V. Sunila, 92, Menominee, died Oct. 2, 2010, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers.

Ellen Gustafson was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Carney, to the late Halvor and Carrie (Carlson) Gustafson. On April 15, 1946, she married Ernie Sunila in Milwaukee. She worked as a lab technician for Frigo Cheese in Carney for 20 years. Ellen enjoyed the outdoors where she loved to deer hunt, fish and camp. Some of her greatest times were spent at her camp. She also enjoyed making brush blankets, wreathes and going to the casino. She was a member of the Carney-Nadeau American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by three daughters, Eunice (Bud) Wingo, TX, Janice (Richard) King, and Bonnie (Pat) Charlier, both of Menominee; son, Wayne (Jean) Sunila, Menominee, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Schlak, Menominee, and Dorothy Revall, Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Christopher; one daughter, Katherine, two brothers and four sisters.

Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, Oct. 5, where Legion Auxiliary service and funeral service were held. Burial was in Carney Free Church Cemetery.
