Avis Mae Fazer, 83, Powers, died July 22, 2010, at Marquette General Hospital.

She was born April 17, 1927, in Menominee, the daughter of James and Marcella (Rowe) Doubek.
Avis graduated from Menominee High School in 1945. On Sept. 21, 1949, she married Raymond (Bud) Fazer. He preceded her in death March 31, 1989. In 1954 they built the Candlelite Motel in Powers, which they owned and operated for 32 years until their retirement in 1986.
She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, St. Anne's Society, served on the board of directors at Pleasant Acres and was a Red Cross volunteer serving as the director of the local blood drives in the Powers/Spalding area for over 50 years.

She is survived by her children, Judy (Ron) Hanson, Carmel, IN, John Fazer, Goodrich, MI, Jim Fazer, Kalamazoo, Mary (Peachy) Derks, Whitehall, MI, and Lisa (Keith) Anderson, Escanaba; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Joyce) Doubek and John (Linda) Doubek, all of Menominee, and Merle (Syblann) Doubek, Mesa, AZ; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Fazer, and Nancy Fazer, both of Powers; brothers-in-law, Wally (Marilyn) Fazer, Powers, John Fazer, Green Bay, Warren Kudzma, Rockford, IL, and Art (Mary Lou) Messier, Escanaba, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Anderson Funeral Home, Spalding. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 26 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with Father Emmett Norden officiating.
Burial was in the Spalding Township Cemetery.

Sandra L. Krause, 64, Marinette, died July 23, 2010, at home, after a battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 25, 1945, in Menominee, and was the daughter of Chester W. and Verna (Carrier) Paige. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1964. On May 25, 1965, she married Lawrence Krause. She had worked for 30-plus years with the Schloegel family in both the Marinette and Menominee Restaurants as a waitress and hostess until she retired in July 2009. She loved working with the public and getting to know people. She enjoyed working outdoors in her flower gardens and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Kelly (David Pichette) Krause; two sons, Lance (Sherri) Krause and Quinn (Angie) Krause; three grandchildren; a sister, Melody (Phil) Wonsyld, Brookings, OR, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mildred Rounds and Elaine Hall.

Thielen Funeral Home will be assisting the family with a private family service. The family will have a celebration of Sandra's life at her son Quinn's home, 100 Mill St., Marinette, with friends and family that would like to attend and share a story of her life and what she meant to you from 5-8 p.m. July 28, 2010.
Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
 
Gary Goldschmidt PDF Print E-mail
Gary A. Goldschmidt, 64, McAllister, died July 24, 2010, at his home.

He was born June 28, 1946, in Marinette, to Albert and Muriel (Zander) Goldschmidt.
He grew up in the McAllister area and spent all of his life there. He attended Wausaukee schools and was first employed by the former Badger Piston Company in Marinette. He entered the United States Army and served in Korea. Returning from military service, he first worked for Banaszak Chevrolet in Crivitz before beginning employment with Rodman Industries, where he worked for 30 years. In semi-retirement, he worked for two years at Walmart and later at the Warren Delaet Saw Mill. He also did taxidermy work from his home. Gary married Toni Dausey April 1, 1972.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Curt (Becky), Menominee, Don (Melissa), Omaha, NE, Darin (Krista), McAllister, and Clint, Oklahoma City, OK, 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale (Linda) Goldschmidt and Jim Goldschmidt, both of McAllister, WI; and one sister, Marlys (Ken) Limberg, McAllister.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon.

Friends called at Community Lutheran Church, McAllister, where funeral services were held July 27 with the Rev. Paul Hueter officiating.
Burial was in Community Lutheran Cemetery with military rites.
Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Homes served the family.

James Allen Sieth, 68, Marinette, died July 20, 2010, at Rennes Health Care Center East.

He was born Oct. 3, 1941, to the late Clarence and Josephine (Kramer) Sieth in Menominee.
James was an altar boy and rang the bells at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Marinette. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1959. He worked at McClellan's, the Red Owl and Lauerman's. He joined the Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and from there was stationed in Germany. While in Germany he was in a car accident which left him a paraplegic and was honorably discharged in 1965.  He loved to give wheelchair rides to his nieces and nephew.

He is survived by three sisters, Eileen (Gordon) Radtke, Oconto, Joanne (Dale) Sieman, Wallace and Susan (Robert) LaCanne, Menominee; four nieces, Jennifer Moustafa, Ann Spross, Kelly Havelka, Julie Wolf and one nephew, David Radtke, six great-nephews and eight great-nieces.

Friends called at the Thielen Funeral Home where service was held July 24 with Deacon Bruce Corey officiating.
Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
