Thomas A. (Tom) Bartoszek, 89, Perronville, died of cardiac arrest at St. Francis Hospital, Jan. 15, 2010.

He was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Keisterville, PA, the son of Frank and Hedwig (Smiertka) Bartoszek. His family moved to Perronville when he was three, he resided there most of his life. He attended Perronville Grade School and graduated from Harris High School in 1939.
He enlisted and tested in the Army Air Corps Cadet Program during WWII.
In 1950 he was appointed U.S. Postmaster in Perronville.
He married Doreen Good October of 1949.
He enjoyed trout fishing, spending time at his cabin, golfing with his friends.
He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Perronville and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Bark River, American Tree Farm Association, Bark River Lion's Club and American Legion Post No. 438. He served on the Board of Directors of the Bishop Noa Home and the Bark River State Bank.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Janet (Jeff Usow) Bartoszek, Chicago, Lynn Bartoszek, Port Charlotte, FL, Beth Bartoszek, Madison, WI, and Joan Feather, Bay Village, OH; three grandchildren; one brother, Anthony Bartoszek, Overland Park, KS; and two sisters, Sophie Shiverski, St. Claire, MI, and Helen Horton, Sun City, AZ, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Joseph, Francis and Florian Bartoszek; and two sisters, Mary Kolodz and Mildred Yagodzinski.

Visitation was held Jan. 19 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 20 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Mark McQuesten officiating.
Burial was in Perronville Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the Thomas A. Bartoszek Memorial Scholarship Fund to be es tablished at Bark River Harris High School.

Rolland Kirschner PDF Print E-mail
Rolland J. Kirschner, 77, Powers, died Jan. 10, 2010, at home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1932, to the late Albert and Amelia (Karl) Kirschner in Powers. On June 12, 1954, He married Frieda Heugel in Milwaukee.
Rolland and Frieda moved back to Powers in 1963 and started their life in dairy farming, retiring after 40 years.

He is survived by two brothers, Joe (Pat) Kirschner and Vernon (Roxanne) Kirschner, nieces and nephews.
Rolland was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Allen Kirschner; and two sisters, Lucille Marsciek and Hazel Gaede.

Raymond Parrett, 82, Wallace, died, Jan. 16, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center.

He was born May 9, 1927, to the late Raymond and Cecelia (Bruso) Parrett in Hermansville, and attended Menominee High School. His passion was music; he received his first guitar at age seven. He taught himself to play guitar from  listening to his uncle and from a guitar book.
In his early 20s he created The Ray Parrett Trio, playing in Milwaukee, northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. In the 50s he had a TV show with his band on WLUK channel 11. He also worked with a traveling group the Pappy Kleber Show.

Dec. 30, 1947, he married Eleanor LaCanne at St. Anne's Church, Menominee. Ray was a machinist by trade. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union and the Musicians Union.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, James (Patricia) Parrett, Wallace, and Timothy (special friend Vicky) Parrett, Marinette; six daughters, Jeannie (Joe) Turek, Wallace, Cherié (John) Marcotte, Ishpeming, Sandra Leyo, Menominee, Susan (Jack) Heider, Debra (Brian) Laurin, both of Wallace, and LuAnn (Jeff) Nelson, Menominee; a sister, Lorraine (Dan) Carlson, Wallace, 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and his special friend, William Plemel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard; a son-in-law, Roger Leyo; a sister, Belva Smith; and two brothers, Ronald and William Compney.

Visitation will beheld at Lemieux Thielen Funeral Home, Menominee, Jan. 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. with Deacon Thomas Rivard officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Carl Pogrant PDF Print E-mail
Carl Bernard Pogrant, 81, Menominee, died Jan. 10, 2010.

Carl was born July 21, 1928, in Grover, WI to the late William and Marie (Elert) Pogrant.
Carl served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He married Joan Lemke Sept. 12, 1953, in Menominee. She preceded him in death July 28, 2006. Carl worked as an instrument technician at the former Scott Paper Company in Marinette. Carl was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menominee, and also served on the church council. He currently was serving on the board of directors at the Tri-County Credit Union. He also was a past member of Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc. Board of Directors and past president of the Menominee City Council, including acting mayor.

Carl is survived by one daughter, Lana (William) Campbell; one son, Steve (Joyce)  Pogrant, both of Menominee, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and his wife Joan, Carl was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kelsey Pogrant and four brothers, Kenneth, Bob, John and Bill.

Memorial services were held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Jan. 13. The Rev. Paul Cole officiated.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.
A memorial fund has been established in Carl's name for the Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc.
The Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home assisted the family.
Kenneth Raygo PDF Print E-mail
Kenneth L. Raygo, 71, Marinette, died Jan. 12, 2010, at home.

He was born Feb. 1, 1938, to the late Herbert Jr. and Joyce (Retlick) Raygo in Marinette.
Ken graduated from Marinette High School in 1956 and went on to serve in the United States Army for three years. He also served in the National Guard for several years at Ft. Atkinson, WI. He married Jean Bottkol in 1980, in Marinette. She preceded him in death in 1987. He had worked at Lauerman's Department Store, Olson Furniture and for the Marinette Housing Authority Maintenance for many years until retiring. He enjoyed gardening and upholstery work.

He is survived by two step-sons, Clint (Debbie) Ruggles, Peshtigo, and Russell (Susan) Ruggles, Flagstaff, AZ; a step-daughter, Renee (Eric) Berg, Daggett; two brothers, Jim (Carol) Raygo, Porterfield, and Norman (Tvie) Raygo, Austin, TX; three sisters, Marion Cummings, Carol Jean (Roy) Keifer, and Margie Bergstrom, all of Menominee, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Roger; and a sister, Linda.

Visitation was held Jan. 15, at the Thielen Funeral Home, where funeral ser vices were held, Chaplain Darrel Diers officiated.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.
Stephen Suhosky PDF Print E-mail
Stephen Henry Suhosky, 71, Daggett, died Jan. 13, 2010, at home.

He was born April 10, 1938, in Chicago, to the late Ignatius and Hattie (Antalek) Suchovsky. On July 23, 1966, he married Sally Filibeck at St. Frederick Catholic Church in Daggett. He worked for the State of Michigan as director of family services, retiring March 31, 1992.

Steve enjoyed retirement, being outdoors at camp, hunting or fishing. He loved old cars and restoring them. He had a fondness for evergreen trees. His favorite times were attending sports events with his son Douglas.

He is survived by his wife; son, Douglas (Niki Lanaville), Green Bay; sister, Sylvia (John) Winiecki, Winfield, IL; sisters-in-law, Wendy Suchovsky and Edith Suchovsky, both of Menominee, nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death  by three brothers, Mark, Leo and David; and his father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Lois Filibeck.

Visitation was held at the Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, memorial service was held there Jan. 16. Deacon Vince Beckley officiated.
Burial was in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
