Virginia Mae Hanson, 81, Stephenson, died Feb. 21, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.

Virginia Mae Wennergren was born March 4, 1928, in Wallace, to the late Oscar (O.G.) and Mildred D. (Laundree) Wennergren.
She married Byron Hanson June 22, 1949, in Stephenson. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1995.
In the fall of 1946, she started her career as a secre tary to the superintendent and bookkeeper for the Stephenson High School, a career lasting 52 years. She was a member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Stephenson Senior Citizen Housing Board.

She is survived by one brother, Darrell (Mary Jo) Wennergren, Menominee; and one nephew, Lee (Doris) Wennergren, Seattle, WA; and two great-nephews.

Visitation was Feb. 23 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson. Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 25 at Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Burial was in Mellen Township Cemetery.
Father Corey Litzner officiated.

Joseph (Joe) C. Kiefer, 97, a lifelong resident of Marinette, died Feb. 21, 2010, at the Luther Home.

He was born in Menominee Jan. 18, 1913, the son of Mathias and Susanna (Toussiant) Kiefer.
Joe graduated from Menominee High School in 1932. On July 30, 1938, he married Edna Margaret Nowack of Menominee, at the Epiphany Church.
He worked for Lauerman Brothers in the paint department from 1931 until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Marinette Knights of Columbus, where he served two terms as Grand Knight. He served as the supervisor on the Town of Peshtigo Board. He was also a member of the Little River Country Club, and worked a number of years in the Pro-Shop.

He is survived by one daughter, Sue (Al)  Ewaldt, Marinette; three sons, Jim (Marge) Kiefer, Dick (Judy) Kiefer, both of Mesa, AZ, and Bob (Eva) Kiefer, Marinette; nine grandchil dren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-step-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Eunice Kiefer, Menominee, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife on April 12, 2006; his parents; five brothers, Frederick (Fritz), Nicholas (Nick), Mathias (Matt), Charles (Charlie) and Frank; four sisters, Katherine (Kate) Wald, Anne Kiefer, Elizabeth (Liz) Terry, and Mary Forssberg.

Friends may call at the Thielen Funeral Home Feb. 25, from 3 until 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Dorner officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.

Fredrick E. Kohrt, 79, Menominee, died Feb. 22, 2010, at Menominee Care Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Marinette, to the late William and Alvina (Rettshlag) Kohrt.
Fredrick graduated from Menominee High School Class of 1950. He married Gail Stuart June 16, 1957, in Peshtigo. She preceded him in death Nov. 15, 1998.
He worked at Scott Paper Company for over 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Menominee. He loved to fish, do woodworking, and was a Green Bay Packer fan.

He is survived by one daughter, Krystal Kohrt, Stephenson; two sons, Ken (Trisha) Kohrt, Menominee, and Keven (Stacey) Kohrt, Huxley, IA, four grandchildren; and special friend, Shirley Enderby.

Funeral services for Fredrick will be held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of services. The Rev. Phil Tousley will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.
A memorial fund has been established in Fredrick's name.
 
Mildred Orley PDF Print E-mail
Mildred L. Orley, 86 Wallace, died Feb. 17, 2010, at Roubal Care and Rehab Center.

She was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Stephenson, to the late Albert, Sr. and Lucille Mae (Desjarlais) Orley.
She worked as a police crossing guard in Chicago for many years. Mildred en joyed bowling, planting flowers and Sunday trips to the casino. Time spent with her grandchildren is what she enjoyed most. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Daniels, Greenfield, WI, and Joan Janis, Hastings, MN; one son, Thomas Bruso, Oakland, CA, five grand children, 11 great-grand children and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Albert Orley Jr., Madison, WI, and Gerald and James Orley, both of Menominee; two sisters, Elaine Walcher, FL, and Nancy, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her companion, Louis Sinnott, along with three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held  at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home Feb. 24 from 2 p.m. until time of funeral service at 4 p.m with Father Corey Litzner officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Covenant Church Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in Mildred's name for the Paralyzed Veterans and Cancer Research.

Grace M. Parrett, 94, Stephenson, died, Feb. 19, 2010, at Roubal Care and Rehab, Stephenson.

Grace Merle Phillippo was born May 24, 1915, to the late Claude and Alta (Ziese) Phillippo in Wausaukee.
She married Kenneth Parrett July 3, 1959, in Stephenson. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2000.
She was an active member of Stephenson United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Eastern Star. Grace worked for many years at the Ben Franklin Store, retiring in 1976.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Lindstrom; and three broth ers, Roy, Fred and Harold.

Services: Feb. 24 at Stephenson United Methodist Church. Visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. with an Eastern Star service at 10:45 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Mathews of ficiating.
Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family.
