Robert (Bob) Gustafson, 61, Stephenson, died Aug. 12, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Bob was born Nov. 29, 1948, in Escanaba, to the late George and Grace (Nicholson) Gustafson. He spent most of his childhood in Milwaukee until moving to Carney in the ninth grade. On Oct. 5, 1990, he married Connie Caylor at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Bob worked for Frigo Cheese and also owned and operated the Stephenson Pallet Company, retiring due to ill health. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, cribbage, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing and watching football. He opened his home to many foster children who were in need. He loved his Lord, wife and family. He was an active member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic minister, and CCD instructor until his illness no longer allowed him to. He was a past member of the Mid-County Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Erin (Tim) Viau, Carney; three sons, Rob (Melissa), Fondulac, WI, Brad (Tori), Stephenson, and Adam (fiancee, Jennifer Irish) Beaudo, Menominee; five grandchildren; and one sister, Merri (Dale) Derouin, Escanaba.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tyler Daniel Gustafson.

Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 17 at the Precious Blood Church, Father Corey Litzner offici ated.
Burial was in Birch Creek Cemetery.

Elsie Lorraine Hafeman, 78, Menominee, formerly of Wallace, died Aug. 14, 2010, at home.

Elsie DeLaet was born March 9, 1932, in McAllister, to the late Albert and Katherine (Sebero) DeLaet. On May 1, 1954, she married Rudy Hafeman in Menominee. He preceded her in death Feb. 21, 2007. Elsie worked as a waitress for many years and also worked at L.E. Jones as an inspector. She had a love for gardening and flowers, but her greatest joy in life was her grandson Travis. She was a member of Precious Blood Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (fiancé, Ben Teske) Hulsizer, Marinette; one grandson, and his father, Mike Hulsizer, Menominee; spe cial friend, Robert Delorit; four sisters, May Reed, Iron Mountain, Katherine Wagner, Wausaukee, Pauline Christopherson, Menominee, and Teenie Wieting, Marinette.
She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Visitation was at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson. Mass of Christian was celebrated Aug. 18 at the Precious Blood Church. Father Corey Litzner officiated.
Burial followed in Mellen Township Cemetery.
 
Dr. Linda Halvorsen PDF Print E-mail
Dr. Linda Ann (Ward) Halvorsen, 45, 1852 Hazel Court, Green Bay, died Aug. 12, 2010, at Marquette General Hospital.

She was born in Marquette Dec. 3, 1964, to Francis E. and Barbara L. (Johnson) Ward. She was raised in Skandia and was a 1983 graduate of Gwinn High School. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she received a bachelor of science degree. It was during this time that she married Mark A. Halvorsen Aug. 8, 1992, in Skandia. Linda then attended Indiana State University where she earned a doctorate in psychology. She and Mark resided in Marinette for a time and it was there that her twin chil dren, Alaina Pearl and Riley Joe were born. The family later moved to Green Bay where Linda has been employed with Prevea Health Care as a clinical psychologist. Prior to moving to Green Bay, she was associated with Dr. Vernette Carlson in Stephenson.
Linda's children and family were her life and she loved being with them and spending time at family get-togethers. She also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, flower gardening, walking marathons, and relaxing with her dogs. A born-again Christian, she was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Green Bay.

She is survived by her husband; children, Alaina Pearl and Riley Joe; her parents; three brothers, Richard Ward, Beaver Grove (Toni Olavarria, Marquette) and their children, Caitlin and Carlie Ward, David (Lisa) Ward, Marquette, and their children, Amber and Kathryn, Scott (Laura) Ward, Ludington, MI, and their children, Adelaide and Connor; her mother-in-law, Shirley Halvorsen, Marinette; brothers-in-law, John (Jackie) Halvorsen, Port St. Lucie, FL, and their children, Jennifer and James, and Eric (Susan) Halvorsen, Long Island, NY and their children, Samantha and Taylor, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Jack Halvorsen in November of 2009.

The family received relatives and friends at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 270 US 41 East, Negaunee. Service was held there Aug. 17.
Memorials may be directed to the family for an educational fund to be established for Linda's children.

Herbert A. Kaufman, 81, Menominee, died Aug. 12, 2010, at home.

He was born Feb. 28, 1929, to the late Herbert and Helen (Strickland) Kaufman, in Waukegan, IL.
He graduated from the Waukegan Township High School, the University of Illinois, obtaining a BA, and Northwestern University, obtaining a masters degree. He was the owner of Northern Coatings Company of Menominee. He was an engineer and member of the American Society of Engineers. He served as police and fire merit commissioner for the city of Waukegan.

He is survived by a daughter, Jeri Kurath, Gurnee; two grandchildren; a son-in-law, Robert Kurath, Gurnee; a brother, Robert (Delores) Kaufman, Zion; and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Gadsby; and grandparents, Tobin and Frieda Kaufman.

Friends called at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home, where funeral services were held at Aug. 18.
Burial was in Northshore Gardens of Memories, Waukegan.
 
Jerod Therriault PDF Print E-mail
Jerod J. Therriault, 28, Menominee, died unexpectedly Aug. 14, 2010, after a canoeing accident.

He was born Oct. 7, 1981, to Jim and Nancy (Charles) Therriault in Marinette. He graduated from Menominee High School, Class of 2000, and worked as a welder at Marinette Marine. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed car racing and was working on building a car.

He is survived by his father; aunts and uncles; John (Jean) Therriault, Idaho Falls, ID, Jeff (Sandy) Therriault, Jay (Amy) Therriault, both of Menominee, Jeanne (Jerry) Peterson, Marinette, Jody (Brenda) Therriault, Peshtigo, Fred (Lynn) Charles, Nebraska, Sally (Lee) Fayta, Roy (Kathy) Charles, and Gary (Carol) Charles, all of Menominee, cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by cousins, an aunt, Mary Charles; paternal grandparents, Ray and Beatrice Therriault; and maternal grandparents, Fred and Lillian Charles.

Friends may call at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home Aug. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. with Deacon Vince Beckley officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Darryl B. Saxton, 49, Menominee, died Aug. 13, 2010. 

He was born May 7, 1961, to the late Richard and Joyce (Niemi) Saxton. He graduated from Coloma High School in Coloma, MI. He served in the Marine Corps. On Nov. 8, 1996, he married Jeanne Pleau in Menominee. He loved fishing, going to Menominee football and basketball games, and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife; two step-sons, Brian Smith and Jonathon Taylor Dausey; two brothers, Doug and Rick; and two sisters, Cheryl and Janice.

There will be an open house Aug. 18 at 1412 16th Ave., from 2 to 7 p.m. Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
