Edward Behrendt, Marinette, died Aug. 3, 2010.
Edward was born Feb.
26, 1917, in Marinette to the late John and Anna (Steinberger)
Behrendt. At 18, Edward began employ ment at Ansul Chemical Company,
retiring from Ansul at age 62. Over the years he held various titles
and at the time of retirement was a security officer. On Jan. 22,
1938, he mar ried Gertrude Beauclaire at St. Ann's Catholic Church in
Menominee. She preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1998. He was a long-time
member of Holy Family Parish. He was one of eight charter members of
the Ansul Rescue Squad established April 5, 1947. It was the first
all-volunteer squad of its kind in the nation. Edward was elected
squad president in 1963 and named Rescue Squad Man of the Year in
1964. He was the last surviving member of the original squad.
He is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Francis) Modschiedler,
Tipler, Linda (Stanley) Nogalski, Peshtigo, Mary Cherney, Marinette,
four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three
brothers, Arthur, John and Joseph; and three sisters, Frances, Lucy
and Mary.
Family and friends gathered for Funeral Mass Aug. 6, at Holy Family
Parish - St. Joseph's Church in Marinette.
Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.

Amy (Swanson) Block, 34, Menominee, died unexpectedly Aug. 8, 2010, at
home.
She was born on Marinette, to Leonard Swanson and Alice (Price)
Swanson.
She loved animals and nature and was a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
She is survived by two daughters, Taylor Bourgeois and Allyson
Sievert; one son, Jozef Block; fiancee Tracy Sievert; her parents; two
sisters, Tammy Swanson and Tracy (Robert) Adams, all of Menominee;
maternal grandmother, Ardis Price, Sturgeon Bay, aunts, uncles, nieces
and nephews.
Friends may call at the Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home Aug. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Gordon D. Champeau, 86, Citrus Springs, FL, died Aug. 6, 2010, in
Inverness, FL.
A native of Cedar River, he was born July 28, 1924, to
George and Viola (Braley) Champeau.
Gordon was a carpenter and cabinetmaker all his life. He served during
the Korean War era as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. He
moved to Citrus Springs over 35 years ago from Menominee and was one
of the founding parishioners of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic
Church, Citrus Springs and a member of Knights of Columbus Council No.
8510.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Thelma M. Champeau,
Citrus Springs; and six nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 10 at St. Elizabeth Ann
Seton Catholic Church with Fr. Eric Peters, Celebrant.
Interment was in Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, FL. |
Clara L. Hohl (Knoll), 83, Marinette, formerly of West Milwaukee, died
Aug. 5, 2010.
She is survived by two sons, Steven (Kim) Hohl, Menominee, and Robert
(Christine) Hohl, Austin, TX, seven grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hohl.
Visitation Aug. 11, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, from 11
a.m. until 1 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 1 p.m.
Interment Arlington Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

Patricia H. Jensen, 70, died July 28, 2010, after a battle with cancer.
She was born July 23, 1940, in Menominee, to the late Ellsworth and
Merrita (Smith) Hoffman.
She moved to Seattle, WA, where she earned her MA in education. She
taught elementary school for 30 years before retiring to the San
Diego area.
For years she was an active volunteer at the San Diego Wild Animal
Park, an avid birder and supported the ef forts of the Audubon
Society. Pat enjoyed painting, with animals being her favorite
subjects. She loved to camp, hike and travel around the world. She was
a member of the American Association of University Women, the Garden
Club of Seattle, and was affiliated with St. Bart's Episcopal Church
of Rancho Bernardo.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert K. Jensen; brother,
Donald Hoffman, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents. |
J. Duane Langlois, 85, Menominee, died Aug. 2, 2010, at the Luther
Home in Marinette.
He was born April 3, 1925, in Escanaba, to the late
Joseph and Anna (Monsen) Langlois.
After high school, Duane attended UW-Madison for two years and
Northern Michigan University, where he earned a bachelor's degree and
a master's degree. He married Helen Haulotte June 25, 1955. He was a
member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee. He taught sixth grade
at the Washington School in Menominee for a few years before he became
the principal there and at Roosevelt School for over 27 years. Duane
liked gadening, woodworking and golfing. He also was an avid Chicago
Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Michelle Albert, and one
son, Tim Langlois, all of Menominee, four grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Arndt, Wisconsin Rapids, and
Darlene (Harold) Palmer, Brainerd, MN.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother,
Howard Langlois.
Funeral services were held Aug. 5, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in
Menominee. The Rev. Douglas Schoen officiated.
A memorial fund has been established in Duane's name.

Ashton James PeGan-Thiry died at birth Aug. 2, 2010.
His parents are
Brittany Ashton PeGan, Troy Christopher Thiry and his sister is Kailin
Lee Thiry. He is also survived by his grandparents; Perry and Julie
PeGan, Escanaba, Wayne and Michelle Thiry, Marinette;
great-grandparents; Gerald and Elaine Thiry, Kenneth and Sue Ellen
Saunier, Shirlee Lancour, Floyde Lancour, Barb and Tom Davis and Vern
and Mary PeGan, aunts, uncles, cousins, special people and Noah.
He was preceded by his grandmother, Joyce Lentz; uncle, Christopher
Thiry and other loved ones.

Anthony (Tony) L. Semrau, 91, Marinette, died Aug. 2, 2010.
He was
born April 6, 1919, to the late Herman and Veronica (Klassen) Semrau
in Pound and attended Coleman Schools. He served in the Army during
WWII. On Aug. 2, 1952, Anthony married Bernice Meck in Oconto. She
preceded him in death July 2, 1997. He had worked for Menominee Paper
Mill for 37 years and was a mem ber of the Local No. 172. He was also
a member of Holy Family Parish, the Twin City Square Dance Club,
National Square Dance Campers, Good Sam Campers, United Commercial
Travelers, Ninety-Fifth Division Association, Menominee V.F.W. life
member and D.A.V. life member. He went on the Old Glory Honor Flight
to the WWII Veterans Memorial in April of 2010. He enjoyed fish ing,
travel, gardening and card playing.
He is survived by a son, James (Colleen) Semrau, Clarksville, TN; a
daughter Barbara (Gerald) Gilbert, Menominee, four grandchil dren,
four great-grandchil dren; and a sister, Inez Hoida, Appleton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandchild,
Elizabeth; five brothers, Lloyd, Marvin, Gordon, Paul, Floyd; and one
sister, Florence.
Friends called at the Thielen Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held
Aug. 9. at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church.
Entombment was in Forest Home Mausoleum. The 20-Year Club conducted
military honors.
