Roger R. Lindstrom, 65, Malone, WI, died at the home of his daughter in Hartford, WI, Oct. 2, 2009, following a brief illness.

He was born in Stephenson Jan. 22, 1944, to the late Randolph and Vivian (Gustafson) Lindstrom. He graduated from Carney-Nadeau High School with the class of 1963. Roger worked for Evinrude as a millwright for 30 years retiring in 1994. He then went to  work for Sears retiring again Feb. 28, 2009. He enjoyed sports and boating. He enjoyed playing pool and was a loyal Packer fan. He loved time spent with family and friends.


He is survived by  three daughters, Carol (Randy) Leeder, Hartford, Rachel Lindstrom, Milwaukee, Rebecca Lindstrom, Hartford; son, Tim (Carol), Atlanta, GA, seven grandchildren, special friend patty Geringerof, Fond du Lac; sister, Sharon (Norm) Rilling, Arcata, CA; and brother, Glenn (Rosemary), Menominee.

He was preceded in death by his sister, LaVerne.


Visitation and funeral were held Oct. 6, at the Carney Evangelical Free Church. Burial was in church cemetery. Rev. Gary Paige officiated.


A memorial fund has been established in Roger's name.

Michael Jasper PDF Print E-mail

Michael J. Jasper, 39, Carney, died Oct. 3, 2009, at home. Michael John Jasper was born July 21, 1970, in Escanaba, to the late Anthony and Sally (Luft) Jasper.

He was a 1988 graduate of Carney-Nadeau High School, and a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a bachelor of business degree. Mike continued his education at Lake Superior State graduating with a master's degree in business administration.


He married Melanie Kraemer Oct. 26, 2002, in Carney. He served one term as Menominee County Commissioner. He was deputy county clerk and register of deeds from May of 2001 until fall of 2008, when he ran and was elected county clerk and register of deeds. He was a member of the Gourley Township Fire Department and Carney-Nadeau Lions Club. He and his wife Melanie purchased the family farm from his parents, which included the Jasper Sugar Bush. It was homesteaded in 1885 and his was the fourth generation producing maple syrup in the U.P. The Sugar Bush is one of the top producers in Michigan.


Mike enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking and was an avid reader. He loved the theatre and was actively involved locally and during his college years. He had a desire to make the community a better place to live.


He is survived by his wife; sisters and brothers, Cindy (Paul) Milenkovic, Madison, Connie Baragar, Bradenton, FL, Colleen Jasper, Holt, MI, Hank (Diane) Jasper, Black Earth, WI, Mark (Brenda) Jasper, Carney, Carolyn (Steve) Wendrick, Bradenton, and Don (Karen) Jasper, Manitowoc; mother-in-law, Jean Kramer, Carney, nieces, nephews and cousins, and  extended family.


Funeral service will be held Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Carney Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. until service time with Rev. Gary Page officiating.
Burial will be Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Nadeau Township Cemetery.


A memorial has been established in Mike's name.

Hillman Hubbard PDF Print E-mail

Hillman Richard Hubbard, 88, Stephenson, died Sept. 29, 2009, at Roubal Care and Rehab Center. Hilman was born Aug. 21, 1921, in Stephenson, to the late Howard Sr. and Martha (Rasmussen) Hubbard.

After graduating from Stephenson High School, in 1940, he married Doreen Schlenvogt Sept. 9, 1950. He worked for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a lineman for many years retiring at age 60. He enjoyed camping in his younger years, golfing, gardening and fixing phones for people. Hilman was a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge 269 of Menominee for 52 years, Ahmed Temple, Mid-County Senior Center, North Shore Golf Club Golden Duffers, Indian Hills Golf Course and Bell Pioneers. He also served on the Stephenson City Council for many years.


He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Ruth (Melvin) DeLaurelle, Stephenson, Gale (Darell) Verba, Daggett, Jean (Tim) Chaney, Stephenson and Mary Hubbard, Jamestown, CO; son, Paul (Deb), Daggett, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Nemetz, Menominee; two brothers, Howard, Jr. (Helen), Wrightstown, WI, and Gerald, Port Washington, WI; sister-in-law, Leota Hubbard, Menominee.


He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Violet Hubbard; and two brothers, Rueben and Jesse Hubbard.

Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, where services were held Oct. 2. Rev. Jim Mathews officiated.


Burial was in Stephenson Township Cemetery.

 
Michael DeKing PDF Print E-mail

Michael Andrew DeKing, 43, (formerly of Daggett), died Sept. 26, 2009, as a result of a one-vehicle accident. He was born Nov. 15, 1965, in Aurora, IL, to Tom and Mary Lou DeKing and moved to the U.P. in 1977. He moved to Lander, WY, in 1981.


Michael enjoyed his family, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, motorcycles, furniture making, spending time in the mountains and was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan.


He began his career in concrete when he was 17 years old, and later started his business, DeKing Concrete Construction. He also shared Tom's Wild Game Processing with his dad since 1984.


He married Christine Appleby, July 23, 1984. They have three children Michael, Devin and Melissa. They later divorced.


Michael married Denalynn Burnett March 4, 2004. They have a daughter Drew Elizabeth.


He is survived by his wife, Dena; six children, Michael, Devin, Melissa, Drew, Tyson and Kayla, parents; a brother, Curly (Tammy) DeKing, Stephenson; sisters, Sheri DeKing and Lori DeKing (Bo Quiver), both of Lander, WY, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; in-laws, Danny and Cindy Edwards, Lander; sister-in-law, Shawna (Jason) LeBeau, Riverton, WY; brother-in-law, Chad Edwards, Lander; grandparents, Don and Ardis Johnson, Lander.


He was preceded in death by grandparents, uncles, and great-nephew.


Service was held at Lander Community Center, Oct. 1.


Pallbearers were Ryan and Cody DeKing, Keagan and Aaron Pedlar, Bull Armajo and Kevin Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Bo Quiver, Jason LeBeau, Tyson Iiams and Matt Tschannen.


A memorial fund has been set up at Atlantic City Federal Credit Union, Lander, WY.
