Michael A. Derouin, 44, Menominee, died, Dec. 19, 2009,  at home after a battle with cancer.

He was born July 1, 1965, in Menominee, to the late David and Mary Jean (Payne) Derouin.
Mike loved to cook and was most recently employed at the Serving Spoon in Menominee. He was an active musician, playing drums in the band Heads Up. He also played in other bands and recorded a CD with the group Giggle Doom.

He is survived by his sister, Diane Coakley; three brothers, Bill (Joy) Derouin, David Derouin, Jr., and Daniel (Booner) (fiancee, Becky Mellenthin) Derouin, all of Menominee, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at the Cadieu Funeral Home for a celebration of Life service Dec. 27 from 3 to 5 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established in Michael's name.

Donald Englund, 72, Menominee, died Dec. 20, 2009, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.

Honoring Donald's wishes, there will not be any funeral services. The Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Elizabeth A. Gatzke, 50, 7677 Columbia Hwy., Eaton Rapids, MI, died Dec. 15, 2009, at the home of her brother in Carney.

She was born in Milwaukee Oct. 19, 1959, the daughter of William and Janet (Zupan) Wurm. She was a former resident of Fayette, MI.
One of many high points was a month-long trip to Israel in 2006 with her hus band Fred. She enjoyed camping and traveling.
She married Fred Gatzke Dec. 28, 1996, in Medford. Most recently she attended Assembly of Yahweh in Eaton Rapids. She moved there to help work in the ministry.

She is survived by her husband; sister, Sandy Kolstad, Milwaukee; broth ers, James Hoskins, Carney, Tom Wurm, Manitowoc; daughter, Desirae (Rick) Infnell, Racine, and two grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Congregational Church in Garden Dec. 17.
The Crawford Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Burial was in Sac Bay Cemetery.

John G. Grzyb, 81, 2795 F Road, Bark River, died Dec. 19, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Bark River, the son of Joseph and Mary (Jachimiec) Grzyb. He was raised in Bark River and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1947.
John served in the U.S. Air Force.
On March 27, 1951, he married Vera Kozla in Chicago.
He owned and operated a dairy farm and also worked in the woods. For several years, he was employed with Payne & Dolin Inc. and also hauled Christmas trees to Chicago, for Teal's Tree Farms.
John enjoyed gardening, welding, carpentry, hunt ing, four-wheeling, and go ing to camp.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Ronald (Catherine) Grzyb and John S. (Gomer) (Mary) Grzyb, Jr., Bark River, Joseph (Jill Derocher) Grzyb, Menominee, and Daniel (Toni Chouinard) Grzyb, Bark River; four daughters, Mary Ann (Steve) Nelson and Catherine (Cathy) (Henry) Broeders, Bark River, Carol (John) Maki, Gladstone, and Annette (Steve) Minor, Escanaba; daughter-in-law, Mary Grzyb, Bark River, 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sophie McDermott, Bark River, and Jean Simkumas, Oaklawn, IL, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steve.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Rev. Mark McQuesten officiated.
Burial was in the Bark River Cemetery.
The Crawford Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert (Bob) Meintz PDF Print E-mail
Robert (Bob) Meintz, 66, Powers, died Dec. 18, 2009, at Bay Area Medical Center.

Bob was born July 17, 1943, in Stephenson, to Veronica (Sartich) and the late Harry Meintz, Sr. He was raised in Stephenson and was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1961. On Aug. 4, 1962, he married Judy Sundstrom, they would make their home in Powers. In 1964 Bob graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University with a de gree in agronomy. He worked at the Midland Fertilizer Plant in Powers until 1986; he then went on to work at Ray's Feed Mill in Bark River until his retirement in 2008. He was also the owner of B&J Tree's and sold Christmas Trees in Kenosha for 23 years with his daugh ter and son-in-law Kathy and Larry Jenkins. They also sold maple syrup in the spring. He was an avid out doorsman and en joyed fish ing, hunting, golfing and camping. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Spalding, the Normenco Sportsmen Club, the Powers/Spalding Lions Club, and member and for mer president of the IXL Museum. He also served on the Menominee County Planning Commission since 1974 and on the North Central Board of Education for 24 years.

He is survived by his mother, wife; three daugh ters, Jean (Mike) Nuttall, Stephenson, Kathy (Larry) Jenkins, Carney, and Patti Meintz, Detroit; sister, Lori (Don) Brill, Neenah; two brothers, Fred (Celeste), Peshtigo, and Harry, Jr. (Candy), Stephenson; three grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Paula Meintz, Menominee, and Wanda (Ed) Berkery, Stephenson, friends, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, Dec. 21 and Dec. 22 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Spalding, where Mass of Christian Burial was held. Father Michael Vichich officiated.
Burial was in Stephenson Township Cemetery.

Michael J. Rahoi, 48, Escanaba, died Dec. 14, 2009, at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 5, 1961, in Iron Mountain, the son of Jack and Carol (Baumler) Rahoi. Mike was raised in Iron Mountain until the age of four when his family moved to Bark River. He graduated from Bark River-Harris High School in 1979 and then attended Bay College for two years, earning a degree in automotive technology.
On Nov. 23, 2009, Mike married Barbara DeGrave in Escanaba.
He previously worked at Bridgewood as a caretaker and also at Adam's Grocery.
Mike was an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit Tiger fan, but enjoyed all sports. He enjoyed his time when he played in the band, Borderline. He especially loved his time with his family and being with the kids.
He was Catholic by faith.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kaleb Rahoi, Escanaba, and Carl Anderson, Marquette; two daughters, Kaitlyn Rahoi and Amber (Ismael) Lopez, both of Escanaba; his fa ther, Jack Rahoi, Powers; two brothers, Rod (Roxanne), Escanaba, and Kevin (Brenda), FL; sis ter, Denise (Daniel) Veeser, Bark River, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was held at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Bark River. The funeral ser vice was held at the funeral home Dec. 18 with Rev. Mark McQuesten officiat ing.
Burial was in Bark River Cemetery.

Karen M. Yenchesky, 68, Wallace, suffered a sudden heart attack and died unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2009.

She was born July 22, 1941, in Marinette, a daughter of the late Robert E. and Pauline (Erickson) Mittag. On July 31, 1970, she married Richard V. Yenchesky in Marion, WI.
Karen  was an elementary and middle school teacher. Among her professional accomplishments were her reading units that focused on the holocaust. This garnered invitations to the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. She retired from Howard-Suamico School District.
She loved  helping family and friends, traveling and entertaining.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Jaci (Jim) Larsen, Sobieski, WI; two sons, Richard E. Yenchesky, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Dr. Chad V. Yenchesky, De Pere, three grandchildren; siblings, Carole (Steve) England and Robert J. (Patricia) Mittag; mother-in-law, Dorothy Yenchesky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Betty) Yenchesky, Jane Perkins, Roy (Sandy) Yenchesky, and Faye Yenchesky, two godchil dren, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Patricia A. Mittag; father-in-law, Valentine Yenchesky; and relative Jack Leverenz.

Visitation was held Dec. 20 at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St. De Pere, WI. Visitation continued at First United Presbyterian Church, 605 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Funeral service was held there Dec. 21. Rev. Doctor Ted Tromble officiated.
